Our Training

The Licensed Massage Therapists at Above and Beyond Day Spa are all licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The spa itself has an establishment license (#ME 1195), issued by the same department. Our four manicurists and our nail salon have cosmetology licenses with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The massage therapists come from many backgrounds and teachers and employ their own styles to the work they do, within the framework of the spa’s high standards and treatments described in the Services Menu.

The all female massage therapy staff combines several techniques to provide a relaxing, professional massage to give our clients a rewarding feeling of balance and self-awareness.

For the spa treatments, such as European facial massage and wraps and scrubs, several of the elder team members have been fortunate to have studied skin and body care with Source Vitál and the College of Holistic Studies, subsidiaries of Sanctuary d’Sante in the River Oaks district of Houston. Sanctuary d’Sante was one of the first day spas established in the United States back in the early 1980’s.

Many of our staff members have many years in holistic and wellness studies, as well as personal pursuits of herbal medicine, yoga, t’ai chi, martial arts, meditation, Native American studies, music and art. Their personal interests are reflected in the eclectic décor of the spa and in the gentle music playing in each spa room.

Our multifaceted staff brings to you, the client, the combination of ancient teachings from around the world and modern insight into the human body and psyche. We honor our many teachers who gave to us the gift of knowledge.
