OUR MISSION

The mission of Above and Beyond is to provide therapeutic massage and spa services in the Bed and Breakfast facility or to groups at retreats, meetings or special events. The management of the massage outcall service is also dedicated to providing jobs for local massage therapists.

THE BEGINNING

Above and Beyond was born in April 2003 as an idea between two women who had been friends since 1987. Dawn Donalson and Gina Moss had come together in the small town of Fredericksburg, Texas in the 1980’s because of their shared interests in alternative health, therapeutic massage, herbalism (including aromatherapy), hydrotherapy, energy work, yoga and Chinese medicine. They have both studied natural health extensively since the early 1970’s.

During that same time the two kindled their friendship, Fredericksburg began to grow and change. Tourism replaced farming and ranching as the major industry in town. Though an influx of old world healing therapies based on herbs and the Baden-Baden (baths or natural hot springs) of Germany came with the original settlers of Fredericksburg in 1846, a renaissance of natural therapies began in the 1980’s.

An idea sparked. Why not take the massage and spa therapies they knew to the visitors to Fredericksburg at the Bed and Breakfasts? The idea grew. Why not offer jobs to some of the approximately 50 massage therapists in town? Why not train them to do everything the two friends do?

How about the massage outcall service gets the spa booking agent who used to work with the ladies to do appointments and business transactions?

The idea mushroomed. Why not include retreats, workshops, class reunions, weddings, and other functions in the outcalls?

Some of Gina's and Dawn's clients were Bed and Breakfast owners. They gave enthusiastic support and input. The other massage therapists were thrilled at the prospect of an organized support group for bookings.

A local bank set up the credit card program. A local newspaper helped with ads and a story. The Chamber of Commerce put the word out about the service. A local printer made up the brochures to put in the Bed and Breakfasts. A friend took the photographs with his digital camera in the Bed and Breakfast of another friend and client. A local Web site developer got Above and Beyond online.

And thus, we bring the best talent of Fredericksburg to you at a touch of your fingers…and now you can go from your fingertips to our hands. Willkommen (welcome) to Fredericksburg!
